One of the most approachable styles, a golden or blonde ale is an easy-drinking beer that is visually appealing. Rounded and smooth, it is a classic beer known for its simplicity. The history of the Blonde ale finds its ancestors in the centuries old traditions of both pale ale and Kölsch. Likely a lighter version of the pale ale, which was brewed through the latter half of the 1800’s and called a dinner or sparkling ale.

As King Nobel held court, where Reynard’s antics were shared and scrutinized, we hope our Courtyard Saison will unite your Kingdom with those old tales of your childhood mischiefs and frolics. Dry-tasting but full of subtle spicy and funky notes, you’re in for a good story.
Our name Madocke is inspired by the lost story of a Dutch Poet who wrote the famous folkloric tales of ‘Reynard the Fox’ – a clever, cunning, sympathetic hero (who also inspired the likes of Robin Hood!). These stories represent the triumph of craft over brute strength and we think our character-ful beers share the same sentiment. Each beer in the ‘Story Series’ represents a character or moment from the stories and we hope you’ll love the story as much as us!

With its malty sweetness, low hop bitterness and palet of dark fruit, raisins, prunes and dark caramel, there is no mystery with our Dubbel. The dark ruby colour makes it a robust beer, perfect for any occasion
Though the name is shrouded in mystery, sources say its origin stems from the Trappist Abbey of Westmalle in 1856. Dubbel literally translated means Double, but double of what? Some attribute the name to alcohol content. Others attribute the spread of the style name to the popularity of the beer in the monasteries. The monks originally brewed a lower ABV bruin before creating the higher ABV Dubbels.
