Risky business brings together the vision and decades of experience of grape grower/viticulturist Rob Quenby and vintner John Waldron. We have been sourcing fruit from Western Australia and King Valley, producing small batches of fine and distinctive wines from each area. Rob Quenby gives us the opportunity to pre-select the best parcels from these great vineyards to use in the Risky Business range. Our focus is on controlling quality through vineyard selection (often single vineyard) and sustainable vineyard management. We currently produce wines with volumes as tiny as 150 cases, with some varieties up to a modest production of 1,500 cases.

Prosecco
Risky Business Prosecco
The cool climate at the base of the snowfields in Victoria’s King Valley is similar to Italy’s Prosecco Road at the base of the mountains, allowing winemakers to grow grapes in crisp conditions.
Harvested at night, cool fermented with champagne yeast and a small amount of lees contact draws out the unique flavour.
Delicate pear aroma with citrus blossom notes, this light and dry wine has subtle hints of fresh pears, stone fruit and citrus blossom, balanced delicately with just the right amount of acidity, creating a soft and finely textured palate completed seamlessly with lively bubbles.
Risky Business Prosecco is a versatile and fresh wine, perfect for celebrating any occasion or as an aperitif for a warm Summer’s day.

Pinot Grigio
Risky Business Pinot Grigio
The King Valley’s continental climate provides warm days and cool nights, influenced by the Katabatic Breeze that sweeps northward down the valley from the high country helping to create a crisp, fresh and savoury Pinot Grigio.
Aromas of Nashi pear and apple blossom, generous textural palate with bright acidity providing balance and length.

Pinot Gris

This wine has been carefully made in the classic Pinot Gris style – giving it a slight richness.
The nose displays apple blossom, green apple and nectarine along with strong aromas of white peach. A slight textural richness to the palate leaving pronounced acidity, a character typical of cool climate vineyards.

Rosé
Risky Business Rosé
As with all Risky Business wines, this rosé is produced from selected low intervention vineyards, then hand-made using small batch winemaking techniques.
Delicate attractive pale salmon pink colour with ripe strawberry aromas coupled with a savoury edge. This is a crisp and dry Rose with balanced acidity providing length. The Pinot Noir has contributed good weight and mouth feel with fine and delicate fruit flavours on the mid palate that are well matched by crisp, fresh acidity.

Pale lemon colour with green hues lead you into vibrant aromatics with notes of zesty lime and honeysuckle. Mouth filling sweetness bursting with lemon, lime and citrus blossom, which is balanced perfectly by bright acidity finishing dry with great length
Perfectly paired with Asian cuisine, especially if it has a bit of spice!. Ideal with savoury, sweet and sour dishes, and lightly to moderately spiced (hot) dishes.

Deep purple with a dark crimson hue suggestive of the deep brooding plum fruit aromas with hints of spicy berries and violets.
This full-bodied wine is full of delicious juicy plum and berry fruit characters. A full, round palate with fine lingering tannins on the finish. Enjoy now or cellar for 5 years or so.
