2013 Golding La Francesa Savagnin
La Francesa: The French Lady, in Spanish. Confused? So were we! In 2006 we planted a block of what we thought was Albarino, only to find out later it was actually the rare French varietal Savagnin (sah-vah-nyan) a white wine grape grown primarily in France’s Jura region.
The soft press juices were treated separately and cold fermented using selected yeast strains to preserve fruit character. La Francesa brings an enduring and richly layered palate full of earthy spice, pear and stone fruit and finishing with fresh citrus. This wine retains its wonderful natural fruit acidity. Made to drink now until 5 years.
